Coriell Institute for Medical Research to Attend ACMG 2019

04/2019

The Coriell Institute for Medical Research will attend this year’s American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics’ (ACMG) Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting. This year’s event is held in Seattle, Washington from April 2 until April 6.

A longtime supporter of the ACMG, Coriell will host a booth at the event highlighting the NIGMS Human Genetic Cell Repository and the NIA Aging Cell Repository. Coriell staff will be on site to demonstrate and inform attendees of the services and products it provides to the global scientific community.

Coriell is a world-recognized expert in induced pluripotent stem cells and has earned a reputation for providing only the highest quality of these in demand stem cells. That expertise is extended also to the following services that Coriell offers.

Key Stem Cell Services at Coriell

  • Post-thaw viability and growth rate
  • Sterility
  • Mycoplasma testing
  • Identity match / authentication
  • G-banded karyotype
  • Affymetrix Genome-Wide Human SNP Array 6.0
  • Integration of reprogramming factors
  • Alkaline phosphatase staining
  • Stem cell surface markers
  • Differentiation potential
  • Pluripotency

For many years, researchers have been troubled by the misidentification and contamination of the biomaterials used in their work. Uncertainty of one’s samples can jeopardize the whole of their work. Coriell offers an array of authentication services, including cell line authentication and mycoplasma testing.

Coriell will also soon offer high-quality, high-molecular-weight (HMW) DNA, an in-demand product needed to fully benefit from the potential of the third-generation sequencers capable of generating long-read sequences. Coriell will provide this high quality product for several highly characterized reference samples via our online catalog and also offer HMW DNA as an on-demand service for a fee.

ACMG attendees can learn more about these services by visiting booth #1012 on April 3-5 2019.

About the Coriell Institute for Medical Research

The Coriell Institute is a global leader in understanding how our personal genomes affect our health. Coriell is recognized as one of the world's leading biobanks, distributing biological samples and offering research and biobanking services to scientists in 85 countries around the globe. Coriell is the trusted steward of world-renowned collections for the National Institutes of Health, disease foundations and commercial clients. Coriell established its reputation as a leader in personalized medicine through the creation of the Coriell Personalized Medicine Collaborative, a research study which investigated the clinical utility of genomic information. Scientists at Coriell are now leveraging their expertise in genomics to develop new tools to prevent and treat opioid use disorder. The Institute is also unlocking the promise of induced pluripotent stem cells and their role in disease research and drug discovery.
