How to Order Samples from the NIGMS Repository

To order samples from the NIGMS Repository, you must be associated with a recognized research, medical, educational, or commercial organization engaged in biomedical research.

All orders must be placed electronically using our online catalog system.

To Order Samples

Once Coriell Customer Service has approved your account, you may order samples.

  1. Click "Browse Catalog" above to browse the online catalog. You can also use the search box in the upper right corner of this page to search for samples.
  2. You can narrow your search results by collection and product type. You can also select optional fields to display more information about the samples.
  3. Click on the Catalog ID link to view more details about each sample, including: characterizations, phenotypic data, publications, external links, images and culture protocols.
  4. Select the desired product (Cell Culture, DNA) and then click on "Add to Cart". If only one product type is available, it will already be selected for you.
  5. When you have made all of your selections, you can click on "Proceed to Checkout" to purchase your items now or "Save List for Later" to save your list and purchase later.

Before any order can be processed, the following forms must be submitted to ensure compliance with the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regulations for the protection of human subjects (45 CFR Part 46):

  • This form requests the following information:
    • A list of the Catalog ID numbers for the samples you wish to order
    • A description of the research to be performed with the desired samples
    • Information about proposed sharing of personally identifying genetic information (PIGI)
    • A description of any proposed shared use or secondary distribution of samples (see Human Policy or Animal Policy)
  • A Material Transfer Agreement for (Human or Animal) detailing the terms and conditions of sale must be signed by the Principal Investigator and by the Institutional Official, who can make legal commitments on behalf of the Institution. Each Principal Investigator must have his/her own Material Transfer Agreement on file.
  • A Material Transfer Agreement for (Human or Animal) must also be filed for the receiving party when when outsourcing a sample for services prior to use in your labs.

To Purchase Samples

  1. Verify the information for the Principal Investigator, Institutional Official, shipping and billing. Make any necessary edits and click "Next".
  2. Select your method of payment (bank transfer, credit card or purchase order) and complete the required information. Click "Next".
  3. Verify that you have completed and submitted your signed Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) for Human or Animal Samples. Click "Next" or "Save List for Later" if you have not yet submitted an MTA
  4. If you have submitted an MTA, complete the Statement of Research Intent. Click "Next".
  5. Select the applicable Secondary Distribution status. To review our Secondary Distribution policies, click here. Check "I Agree". Click "Next".
  6. Review your order and include any special handling requests or instructions for Coriell Customer Service. Click "Submit".
  7. You will receive an order confirmation email. ORDERS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED UNTIL ALL REQUIRED FORMS ARE SUBMITTED. If your order was placed prior to the submission of all required forms, you will receive another email when the required forms have been received to notify you that your order is being processed.

The majority of clinical and genetic data associated with NIGMS Human Genetic Cell Repository samples was provided by the submitter.

No distribution of cell lines or DNA from species included in the list of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife may occur until appropriate permits have been obtained from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
