Widespread Genetic Variation Affects Regulation of Human Genes

07/2014

Using samples from 5 populations from the 1000 Genomes Project, a European research consortium used RNA-Seq to map cis-quantitative trait loci to the transcriptome of protein-coding and miRNA genes and determined that widespread genetic variation affects the regulation of most human genes. The study was published on September 26, 2013 in Nature and additional information can be found here.
