Cardiomyopathies make it difficult for one’s heart to pump and deliver blood throughout the body. Approximately 750,000 people in the United States have dilated cardiomyopathy, leading to more than half of all heart failure cases.
The CIRM hPSC Repository contains human induced pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) representing IFDCM as well as other cardiomyopathies. Subjects were recruited to capture cardiomyopathy cases with no identified cause. Each patient’s clinical history associated with cardiomyopathy are available. Control samples include unaffected family members, healthy individuals and individuals with dilated cardiomyopathy of known causes.
