In November of 2008, Coriell Institute restructured its stem cell repository functions
under one main biobank, the Stem Cell Biobank. The mission of this repository is to meet
the adult stem cell needs of Coriell’s customers.
The products formerly available through the NJ Stem Cell Resource (NJSCR) will now be
handled through the Stem Cell Biobank. In addition, the Stem Cell Biobank is establishing
an induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell laboratory. The lab will prepare, characterize and
bank iPS cellse. The Stem Cell Biobank also will accept induced pluripotent stem cells
prepared by other laboratories, such that the cells can be made available to the research
community. These biomaterials will be available through the Coriell Cell Repositories
website.
