Image Catharine B. Stack, Ph.D. is a biostatistician at Coriell Institute, focused on the Coriell Personalized Medicine Collaborative (CPMC). The Coriell Personalized Medicine Collaborative (CPMC) is a longitudinal research study that aims to evaluate the utility of using the knowledge of genetics in medicine when implemented in an ethical, legal and responsible format. It is a multi-party effort involving study participants, medical professionals, scientists, ethicists and information technology experts. As a member of the CPMC team, Dr. Stack is responsible for assessing the available literature and developing methods for reporting meaningful estimates of disease risk based upon both genetic and non-genetic factors. She is also interested in using data from the CPMC cohort to improve current risk estimates.

Dr. Stack received her M.S. in biostatistics from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1988 and joined Pfizer, Inc. as a biometrician supporting late phase clinical trials of anti-infective and anti-inflammatory drugs. In 1996, she earned her doctorate in biostatistics from Yale University and maintained her association with Pfizer, Inc. as a member of the early clinical research group. In this role, she designed and analyzed data from clinical trials of compounds in the early stages of development, across a number of therapeutic areas. Dr. Stack joined Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, in 1999, where she designed and interpreted data from novel studies relating genetic variation with response to drug. In 2003, she pursued interests in statistical editing and worked as statistical editor for the Annals of Internal Medicine. In this capacity, she critically reviewed many original clinical research papers, based upon an evaluation of the appropriateness of the study design and statistical methods used. Dr. Stack joined Coriell Institute in the fall of 2008.
