Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Coriell Personalized Medicine Collaborative (CPMC) Update. As a research study participant, you will receive email updates on a regular basis to keep you informed about the CPMC.

Progress
We plan to launch the first phase of the web portal in January 2009 for participants to set up personal CPMC accounts and complete health-related questionnaires. You will receive an email in January directing you to the web portal when it is activated. We are currently beta-testing (i.e. proofreading, fact-checking) this site and are looking forward to sharing it with you in the new year.

The second phase of the web portal will be available starting in March 2009 and will include your personalized genetic risk results.

This timeline provides you with the opportunity to complete your health-related questionnaires which will allow us to calculate personalized genetic risks based on the answers you provide. This approach will result in genetic risks that will be most meaningful for you.

We will send you additional CPMC updates within a few weeks. We thank you very much for your patience, as we understand you are eager to see your results. You are a pioneer in this important research study and together we can advance personalized medicine today and look forward to its promising future.

P.S. During the past several months we have reached many important milestones in the CPMC as described below.

Current Milestones

As of December 2008, we have more than 3,300 participants in the CPMC study and the number continues to grow each day.

Our Genome Center passed a rigorous state-mandated quality control inspection. Find out more about CLIA certification.

Construction of the web portal that participants will use to view personalized genetic risk results is finished. We are now confirming the educational content is clear and everything is as user-friendly as possible. Once we finish this step (in January 2009), we will be ready to share the site with you.

The CPMC is recognized as being a national leader in understanding the impact of personalized medicine. A 10-page description of the CPMC is included in the Federal Health and Human Services’ 2008 Annual Report, Personalized Heath Care: Pioneers, Partnerships, Progress. Click here to read the paper.
