Kenneth A. Somberg, MD, MBA, currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of TrialSpark, Inc., a technology-driven drug development and pharmaceutical company. It this role he is a member of the executive leadership team driving company strategy as well as directly overseeing the medical and scientific aspects of the company.

Prior to joining TrialSpark, Ken served as CMO of Nevakar, Inc., a New-Jersey based biopharma company developing ophthalmological and sterile-injectable drugs. Previous roles included eight years as the CMO of Covance, a leading global Contract Research Organization, and 12 years at Novartis in roles including Vice President and Global Franchise Head, Drug Regulatory Affairs for Immunology and Infectious Diseases and Global Head of Clinical Research for Transplantation and Immunology.

Ken received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He served as Assistant Professor and Associate Medical Director of the Liver Transplantation Program at UCSF for five years prior to joining Novartis. Ken also holds a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology from Stanford University.

Outside interests include food insecurity and childhood education. Ken is a regular volunteer for the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Paul Robeson Charter School for the Humanities in Trenton, New Jersey.
